We are looking for an R&D Specialist for an immediate start. This is a temporary position based in our Laboratory in Luxembourg (Esch-sur-Alzette). We offer a fixed-term employment contract for a limited period of 6 months potentially renewable.
The R&D Specialist will drive the completion of ongoing research activities in our research lab as well as support the development of new Biotechnological research within the field of wound and skin healing This position will suit you perfectly if you have a taste for innovation and the desire to make things happen.

Your responsibilities:

  • You drive biotechnological research by applying advanced in vitro cell culture models to evaluate novel therapies for the topical treatment of wounds and other skin disorders.
  • You perform cell tests (prokaryotes and eukaryotes), gene-expression analysis, creation of knockdown/overexpression mutants in different cell types and maintain cell culture models.
  • You will perform pre-clinical lab experiments to evaluate the efficacy of novel biologicals within cell-culture models.
  • You comply with quality and lab SOP.
  • You share other general duties and responsibilities required to ensure the smooth running of a cell culture lab (i.e. ordering reagents) with the rest of the team.
  • You support the on-site lab management.
  • You continuously improve and develop R&D knowledge in order to apply it in the company and to keep abreast of trends and new developments.
  • You support the execution of FTO and risk analysis of all new and existing products.

Your qualifications & experience:

  • You hold a Degree (Master's and/or PhD) in life sciences (e.g. pharmaceutical, Biotechnology engineering, cell and gene) or comparable scientific background with research experiences in the field we operate.
  • You have experience in applying advanced biotechnological research applying co-culture techniques and cell models.
  • Experience in galenics of semisolids and polymer-based semisolids (gels, creams, ...) would be advantageous.
  • 5 years experience in a research environment is a strong asset.
  • You have an understanding of functional and technical Biopharmaceutical development processes and digital applications (e.g. bioinformatics and application of AI/ML in gene analysis).
  • You have excellent time management, presentation, communication and meeting facilitation skills.
  • You are driven by a desire to improve patients’ health.
  • You are convinced that biotech innovation, correctly designed and developed, can improve patients’ lives helping them to live the life they love.
  • You have the ability to prioritize tasks and adjust to sudden changes in workflow.
  • Expertise in Project Management and tools
  • Ability to work in a fast-changing scientific environment (adaptability, collaboration, versatility, interest in challenges).
  • Organized, quick, efficient, and focused on quality and details.
  • You are fluent (written and verbal) in English. French, Dutch and/or German is an advantage.
  • You are ambitious, energetic, and driven and work well in a multicultural team environment.
  • You are proactive, and you are a driver for change. At the same time, you are pragmatic, problem-solving and looking for initiative.
  • You are willing to master new skills and develop yourself.
